About Us

The Monarch Group contains some of the best-established names in the British travel sector. Customer care and service lie at the heart of the Group’s business approach, and the Group enjoys high levels of repeat business from both business and retail customers in all its operations.When the Group was founded in its current form in 1967 it had 146 staff - today this has grown to over 3,000 highly-trained personnel.

The holding company of the Group is Monarch Holdings plc. The principal subsidiaries are Monarch Airlines, Monarch Aircraft Engineering, First Aviation and a number of household-name tour operators such as Cosmos Holidays, Avro, Archers Direct and Cosmos Tourama, as well as the online hotel booking service somewhere2stay.com.

Having been in operation for some 50 years, Cosmos Holidays is one of the oldest and well established brands in UK tour operating, and provides holidays to over 780,000 customers in 65 destinations annually. Cosmos is the UK’s largest independent tour operator. Part of the Cosmos Holidays programme since 2002, the accommodation only brand, somewhere2stay, supplies hotel, apartment and villa accommodation around the world to the UK travel trade.

Booking Accommodation Through somewhere2stay

somewhere2stay offers you great value online booking for holiday hotels, villas, apartments & all-inclusive accommodation in destinations throughout the world. somewhere2stay acts as a booking agent on behalf of accommodation providers in those destinations, which means that when you book accommodation through somewhere2stay your contract is with the accommodation provider concerned (e.g. the hotel, apartment or villa owner). Please see our Booking Conditions for further information. However, at somewhere2stay, with many of the properties that we feature, you have the choice of paying a small supplement that will ensure that your accommodation contract is with our sister company, Cosmos Holidays plc.

Principal Assured

Whilst acting as agent on behalf of the many accommodation suppliers we feature, somewhere2stay also acts as agent for Cosmos Holidays plc. Cosmos Holidays plc is a member of the Association of British Travel Agents - ABTA (ABTA Membership Number V0531). For a supplement of £5 per person you have the peace of mind of knowing that your accommodation contract is with somewhere2stay’s sister company, Cosmos Holidays plc. That means that in the event you have a claim or complaint this will be dealt with by Cosmos. Our Booking Conditions deal with Cosmos’s liability when you purchase Principal Assured through us, though the below table sets out some of the key differences between a booking with Principal Assured and a booking without this extra.

Diamond Ratings

Official ratings are set by relevant overseas authorities (where applicable), but unfortunately do not represent a consistent way of comparing accommodation standards from one country to the next. Therefore, somewhere2stay has established its own Diamond ratings to help you choose. These are based on our own knowledge and take into account facilities, food, service and location as well as characteristic differences between hotels and apartments. The ratings are given on a scale 2-5 Diamonds and represent a range from basic good value without frills to above average with extra comfort. Not all accommodation within the same rating will necessarily offer the same facilities.
