South of Banjul lie the resort of Kotu. Whilst tourism is taking off here, the area remains fairly low-key, giving you a unique opportunity for a relaxing beach holiday while still discovering the Gambian way of life. One of the best features of this coast is the soft white sand - perfect for lazy days and relaxation in the sun, or for leisurely walks. Kotu comprises a selection of hotels strung along the beach with a sprinkling of shops and market stalls.
