Resort Kolymbia - hotel in Rhodes

On the north-east coast of Rhodes, this purpose-built resort is all about sun, sea and sand. Aside from a few tavernas, bars and shops, it's composed of hotels popular with international visitors, but the star attraction is its terrific beach - an impressive swathe of sands sloping into pristine waters and commanding sweeping mountain-and-sea vistas. The atmosphere is peaceful, with most people snoozing on their sunbeds and occasionally enjoying the jet-skis on offer. Behind the sands, an avenue of eucalyptus trees adds a pleasant touch and at one end of the beach, an inviting rocky cove provides another tranquil sunbathing spot. A nearby 18-hole golf course offers another diversion, and there are plenty of buses into party-mad Faliraki and boats to Lindos and Rhodes Town when you're up for some sightseeing or a livelier atmosphere.
