Introduction to Budva

Budva is said to date back to Egyptian times when it was established by the son of the Phoenician King Agenon. Since then it has developed into a cultural and tourist centre, although much of its varied historical past is in evidence in the architecture and atmosphere - from Benedictine churches to Venetian murals and the 15th-century ramparts. These days the quaint squares and narrow streets are home to festivals and celebrations throughout the year. There are two pebbly beaches around the Old Town.
